FAQ

Q: How do i book a class?

A: You may call or email us to book a class, OR click the RESERVE button from class page.  This will take you to our 'Request to Book' form.  Fill out the form as best you can, then SUBMIT.  Once received, we will RESPOND to your request via email (or phone if specified) to let you know whether or not there is space in class.  We will then finalize your reservation.

Q:  How much advance notice do I need to give to reserve a class?

A:  Classes must be booked at least 24 hours in advance.

Q: Do you still teach sup?

A:  We do still teach SUP, by appointment only in Capitola, CA - OR ONLINE via zoom!

Q: IS THERE A MINIMUM OR MAXIMUM AGE OR SIZE TO PADDLE?

A: The minimum age to attend our classes is 11 years old.  All minors require parental permission.   As long as you are in reasonable good health, there is no reason why anyone cannot paddle.  Our boards can handle up to 275 - 300lbs.  PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU ARE OVER 6' 3".

Q: WHERE DO I GO FOR MY LESSON?

A:  Since relocating to our California home state, we’re offering a variety of classes via zoom or in Capitola, CA. We also offer retreats around the country!

Q: where do we park for local classes?

A:  Capitola can get busy! Especially in the summer months. Most of our classes will start early to make the most of the day and provide you with more parking options. There are several lots/spaces where you can pay to park, and you can often find 2 hour parking for free if you park a bit further from the beach.

Q: WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT ARE ACCEPTED?  HOW DO I PAY FOR MY LESSON?

A:   We accept cash or check or all major credit cards, debit cards and electronic funds transfer through PayPal (includes a 2.9% CC fee - which works out to be about $1.50 for a $50 class). We also accept Zelle - a bank to bank transfer without service fees.

Q: Is there a cancellation fee?

A:   There is a cancellation fee for classes missed or cancelled without 48 hour notice.  We understand if there is an emergency, however, we ask that you and your group respect our policy so that you do not take a space in a class that could otherwise be filled.  No refunds are given for pre-paid classes, but you may choose to exchange for another class if canceled within 48 hours.

Q: WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

A: For yoga or hiking, please dress for the weather and comfort/movement. Please bring a yoga mat for beach/outdoor yoga classes. For SUP classes, wear a swimsuit or comfy water-loving clothing (think polyester, lycra, spandex...), sunscreen, water & bring a towel.  If you wear glasses, be sure to have a strap so that they stay on.  In the Fall/Winter, please be prepared with warm clothing, booties, etc.

Q: WHAT ABOUT ADVERSE WEATHER AND WIND CONDITIONS?

A:  If adverse weather or extreme wind conditions pose a threat, we may have to cancel classes.  In the event that we are unable to hold class, we will reschedule! Safety is our priority.  We’ll be sure to contact you if things aren’t looking safe for our class..

Q: DO YOU RENT YOUR SUP BOARDS?

A:  I don’t rent any gear at this time.

Q: I WANT TO BUY MY OWN sup.  WHAT DOES A FULL PADDLEBOARDING SET-UP COST?

A: Depending on the brand, model, & size, the cost of a good SUP board and paddle ranges from about $1,200 to $2,800 +.  This is a "get what you pay for" kind of sport.   All of our gear is top quality.  As a HALA gear ambassador, I can help you discover the difference quality makes!  We now offer Hala and HYDRUS paddleboards and gear for sale!
